I have a lot of family birthdays, personal and professional events already set up in my Google Calendar, with email reminders and notifications set up. You can do this from either your device or the Google Home app, with Assistant allowing you to set reminders that include time, dates, people and locations. Again, you’ll need Google Assistant to link your shared calendars with your Google Home device. This connection means you can sync your calendar regardless of the smartphone, tablet, or computer you use. So, if you’re an iPhone and iPad user — you can still sync your calendar to Google Home. Before we go any further — there is one downside with Google Home.

If you create reminders and don't mark them as done in the Calendar app, the Google app, or Google Keep, they appear in the "All day" section of your calendar. You only get notifications for reminders when they're set for a specific time. You won't get notifications for all-day reminders. Changes you make on your mobile device sync with your computer notifications. For example, if you choose a "1 hour before" notification on your phone, you also get a pop-up notification on your computer 1 hour before your event.

Google Assistant cuts through those tiny — yet surprisingly inconvenient — steps by reading calendar information aloud to you via your TV, speaker, display, or smart clock. Depending on your Google Calendar notifications, you may see alerts for your tasks and reminders that allow you to view and mark them complete. But you can also do this directly in Google Calendar.
